Our History
Grace Baptist Church opened its doors to the Village of Oak Harbor in 1986. Pastor Richard (Rick) Bickelhaupt was lead to the town soon after his call to preach the Gospel. From renting the town’s local American Legion Hall to the first purchase of an old church building on the corner of Church and Ottawa Streets, God has greatly blessed the ministry to its current location just west of the village. In 1993, God answered prayer with granting a site to build on, and Grace found its permanent home on Toussaint Portage Road between State Routes 105 and 163.
Since 1994, the campus has gone through four major building expansions to accommodate our growing congregation. The church has endured many growth processes over the past 40 years and plans to continue its work for the Lord in and around the community. We have a wonderful, spacious facility with a sanctuary, classrooms, nursery/toddler rooms, kitchen, large fellowship hall and more to meet the needs of discipling people to follow Christ. It is a place where ministries abound and people are consistently reached and discipled for Christ.
COME. HEAR. SHARE.
Our Beliefs
Grace Baptist Church is an independent, evangelistic, fundamental, missionary Baptist church. We hold to the belief that the Bible (1611 KVJ) is the only inspired Word of God. Therefore, we believe that every Word therein is true and that the Bible is the final authority on all faith and practice.

Independent
Independent means we are not affiliated with any denomination. Our congregation is self-governing, following the biblical model where members make all decisions. This autonomy allows us to adhere closely to the principles outlined in the Bible.

Fundamental
Fundamental means we hold to core beliefs like the deity of Christ and the inerrancy of Scripture. Grace Baptist Church stands unwavering on these doctrines, including using the King James Version (1611) of the Bible, and does not compromise on them.

Evangelistic
Evangelistic means we are dedicated to the Bible command to be witnesses in Acts 1:8. We believe in living our lives as a reflection of this witness and actively sharing the Gospel. This commitment drives us to reach the lost with urgency and compassion.

Missionary
Missionary means we spread the Gospel saving message as commanded in Mark 16:15 and Matthew 28:19-20. Grace Baptist Church supports over 50 missionaries, raising over $50,000 annually through a “faith promise” program for their work globally.
Our Salvation
The Bible says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, …” (1 John 5:13) God wants us all to know that if we are to go to Heaven, we must do it God’s way.
First of all, God’s Word says we are all sinners. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) Because we are all under the penalty of sin, our sins must be paid for! “For the wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23)
This means eternal separation from God in an eternal Hell.
Since God does not want anyone to go to Hell, He sent His only Son to die and pay the penalty for our sins. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
God’s love is so great that He made a way for our sins to be forgiven. He offers His forgiveness and salvation freely. “The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
God offers Heaven as a Gift, purchased with His blood upon the cross. But like all gifts, it is not yours until you receive it. Here is how you can receive Christ: “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:5) “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
You must repent of your sins, and trust the shed blood of Jesus Christ as full payment for your sins. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom. 10:13) Will you call upon Him right now and trust Christ to be your personal Savior?
